History

Pursue your passion for history, where valuable internships with regional museums and dedicated faculty make it the perfect choice for your studies.

Pursue excellence in your education

The Department of History is one of the largest producers of undergraduate history majors in the nation. Students can pursue a bachelor's degree in either the arts or sciences, as well as a graduate degree. Students interested in museum careers may pursue a for-credit internship with one of our twelve regional partners. Our faculty of award-winning scholar-teachers has produced more than twenty books and dozens of articles in the last decade. With research that includes migration and cross-cultural exchange, religion and politics, urban space and the environment, race and civil rights, and war and memory, we are committed to innovative scholarship, student engagement, and pedagogical excellence. Our state-of-the-art curriculum, small class sizes, and opportunities for undergraduate research truly distinguish our department.
