Every year, SHSU students come together to support their community through the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. This year, students helped out at SAAFE House, the Huntsville Public Library, Meals on Wheels of Walker County, Creekside Retirement Community and many other locations around the city.

Sam Houston State University has once again distinguished itself as a leader in higher education through its receipt of the 2026 Carnegie Community Engagement (CE) Classification, marking 16 years since the university first received this recognition.
