Student Support & Resources
Academic Support & Advising
Learning Communities
All first-year students are placed into one of our four Learning Communities – academic and social support hubs led by faculty and staff mentors. These communities foster connection, career development, and team building.
Medical Student Affairs
MSA provides academic and career counseling, tutoring, learning resources, and advocacy to support each student’s personal and academic success. The team also helps with absence requests and navigating campus procedures.
Wellness & Mental Health Support
Medical school is demanding, so SHSU-COM provides resources to help students manage stress, build resilience, and care for their well-being. Services include access to counseling, stress-reduction activities, peer support initiatives, and wellness workshops.
Dean of Students Office
The Dean of Students Office offers assistance with crises, procedural support, and student advocacy.
